Budgerigars, commonly known as budgies, are highly social and are known for their friendly and affectionate nature, making them popular pets worldwide. Budgies are also remarkable mimics, capable of learning to imitate human speech with impressive clarity. 

In the wild, they are nomadic and travel in flocks, adapting to the harsh inland conditions of Australia. Their natural coloration is green and yellow with black markings, but in captivity, they have been bred to exhibit a wide range of colors, including blue, white, and grey.
