Superb Lyrebird Earrings.

Made from our original hand painted design, these earrings are printed with eco-friendly inks, onto light weight sustainably grown hoop pine and finished with stainless steel hoops, perfect for sensitive ears!

Superb lyrebirds are renowned for their incredible ability to mimic natural and artificial sounds. They can imitate chainsaws, car engines, camera shutters, and other bird calls with remarkable accuracy. They are one of the world’s largest songbirds, with males reaching up to 100 cm (about 39 inches) in length, including their tail.

The male lyrebird has an ornate tail with 16 feathers, which it uses in courtship displays. When fanned out, the tail resembles a lyre, an ancient Greek musical instrument. They attract females by singing and dancing on mounds within their territory.
