Boronia pinnata, the Pink Boronia is a hardy, evergreen, woody shrub about 1.5m high that is found in the dry sclerophyll forests and well-drained sandy heaths of coastal NSW from Ballina to Nowra and into the lower mountain regions. It is an attractive plant that has dark green sweetly scented narrow leaflets arranged along a central stem and produces brilliant clusters of pale to deep pink star-shaped, fragrant flowers in Spring. When the flower is finished the petals close to resemble a bud and the fruit ripens inside.

Boronias are part of the Rutaceae citrus family and there are around 100 different species in Australia. The Pink Boronia is a popular long-lasting cut flower. The leaves and flowers can also be crushed to make a sweet, aromatic essential oil that’s used in perfumes. The scent is also very attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies. Seen as a symbol of focus, clarity, open-mindedness, serenity, laughter, delight, joy and open heartedness.

Care instructions: do not wear swimming or bathing.
