Thysanotus manglesianus and patersonii, known as twining fringe lily and tjunguri in the Noongar language are a tuberous, leafless, climbing perennial herb that grows in the sandy scrublands and eucalyptus forests of south-western W.A. and across southern Australia. They produce stunning purple flowers with fringed petals between July and November.
The plants die back to tubers in summer and regenerate in autumn. Traditionally the tiny white tubers were eaten raw, roasted in the fire or ground to make patties. The flowers are associated with gratitude, developing a more loving nature and happiness in giving to others.
Care instructions: Do not wear swimming or bathing.
