S U S T A I N A B I L I T Y
Sustainability is something I think about a lot in my business and personal life and I am constantly striving to achieve better environmental practices for Pixie Nut & Co.
In the past year I have discontinued all plastic-based products, the only plastic still existing in my products today is in the glue for the earring posts/brooch backs or earrings stoppers for brass hook designs and in clothing; sewing thread and care labels.
All orders are packaged plastic-free! I use recycled paper bags, hero packs and cardboard boxes, FSC certified tissue paper and plant-based tape. I choose to hand write all my labels as printed sticky labels are printed on and with chemicals and leave an un-recyclable wax paper behind, creating more waste. I also request my manufacturers use minimal plastic and any soft plastic I do collect I reuse or recycle with REDcycle.
MORE ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Wooden jewellery is made from responsibly sourced ply wood which are manufactured in the UK and then made into jewellery by me. Clothing is made in small batches, locally by myself and a friend at her home studio. Christmas cards are printed in Australia on recycled card using plant-based inks.
Fabrics are digitally printed which uses less water, power and chemicals as other dying and printing methods. Fabric scraps are given to my local preschool to use in creative projects or free to anyone who requests some. I print my fabrics with various companies in China that have all been assessed and certified by third party verification services.
