Acacia dealbata, the silver or blue wattle is a hardy, fast-growing evergreen shrub or medium tree widespread in the open woodlands, dry sclerophyll and wet forests of eastern NSW, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. It grows on the high plateaus, slopes, deep gullies, river banks and swamp margins in full sun or dappled shade and tolerates strong winds, drought, frost and snow. Has beautiful, fine bluish-green to silver-grey fern-like foliage and produces masses of small, rounded, fluffy, bright yellow, sweetly scented flowers in Winter and Spring.

The Silver Wattle provides an excellent habitat and valuable food source for gliders, possums, birds, insects, caterpillars, butterflies and bees. After flowering it produces narrow, flat, twisted seed pods containing small, long-lasting seeds that germinate readily after fires. The plant was traditionally used for a wide range of purposes. Seen as a symbol of resilience, inner strength, hope, renewal, new beginnings and moving forward in life.
